Configuration Options & Restoring Settings

Global and Space Settings

Smart Label Sync gives administrators the flexibility to configure how labels are synchronized both globally (across the entire Confluence instance) and at the space level.

Global Configuration

  • Access global settings via:
    Confluence Administration → Manage Apps → Smart Label Sync: Configuration

  • Configure whether to:

    • Include labels from other spaces (allow or disallow label syncing from pages in other Confluence spaces).

    • Include labels from personal spaces.

    • Allow space admins to override these global settings for their individual spaces.

Tip:
Global settings act as the default configuration unless a space admin has set custom rules in their space.

Space Configuration

  • Go to a specific space and select:
    Space Settings → Integrations → Smart Label Sync

  • Adjust settings specifically for that space.
    If global overrides are permitted, space admins can:

    • Enable/disable label syncing from other spaces.

    • Enable/disable label syncing from personal spaces.

  • If overrides are not permitted, the space settings will reflect the global configuration and will be read-only.

Restoring Settings to Defaults

You can restore settings to their factory defaults at any time:

  • In the Global Settings page, click Restore Defaults to reset all global options to their initial values.

  • In the Space Settings page, click Restore Space Defaults to revert the space configuration back to the global defaults.

  • Restoring defaults helps resolve issues or return to a known-good configuration if you’re not sure what has changed.

Note:
Restoring global defaults does not affect space-specific settings that have been customized (unless the override option is disabled, in which case space settings will reflect the reset global values).

Configuration Best Practices

  • Use global settings to establish organization-wide label sync rules.

  • Allow space overrides only when necessary, for teams or spaces with unique requirements.

  • Encourage users and space admins to periodically review settings to ensure label management remains consistent.

  • Use the Restore Defaults feature to quickly recover from accidental misconfiguration or testing.
