Get Started with Smart Label Sync

Welcome to Smart Label Sync!
This app helps you automatically synchronize labels from included Confluence pages to their parent page, making metadata management easier and more consistent.

1. Configure Your Settings

Smart Label Sync can be configured at two levels:

Global Settings

• Go to Confluence Administration → Manage Apps → Smart Label Sync.

• Here you can set default label sync rules for your entire Confluence instance.

• Decide whether to include labels from personal spaces or other spaces.

• You can allow space admins to override these defaults for individual spaces if desired.

Space Settings

• Navigate to the Space Settings in any space where you want custom rules.

• Adjust label sync settings specifically for that space.

• Space-level settings will override the global defaults if overrides are enabled.

2. Syncing Labels

Once your settings are configured:

• Use the Label Sync action from the byline or page actions menu on any page that includes other pages (e.g., using the Include macro).

• The app will copy all labels from included pages to the parent page automatically.

3. Permissions & User Access

Smart Label Sync operates using the permissions of the user who triggers the sync:

• Users must have permission to view the included pages and to add or edit labels on the parent page.

• If a user does not have the necessary permissions, label syncing may fail or only partially complete.

• Make sure users who need to sync labels have the correct Confluence permissions for the relevant pages and spaces.
