Smart Label Sync includes a convenient byline action directly on every Confluence page. This makes it easy to trigger label synchronization without navigating away or searching for special menus.

What is the Byline Action?

The byline action is a small button located near the top of a Confluence page (next to the page’s author and status information).
Look for the “Label Sync” option with a sync icon.

What does it do?

• Syncs labels instantly:
  When you click the byline “Label Sync” action, the app will automatically scan for any included pages (via the Include Page macro) and synchronize their labels to the current page.

• Respects your configuration:
  The sync respects both global and space-specific settings, including which spaces are allowed and whether overrides are enabled.

• Runs as you:
  The action uses your permissions. You must have permission to add or modify labels on the page for the sync to succeed.

How to Use

1. Open any Confluence page where you want to sync labels.

2. Locate the byline “Label Sync” action – usually visible as a sync icon with a tooltip “Sync labels from included pages.”

3. Click the byline action.

4. View the result:

   • You’ll see a confirmation message when labels have been synced.

   • If there are issues (e.g., missing permissions or no included pages), a detailed error message will appear.

Best Practices & Troubleshooting

• Permissions:
  You must have permission to edit labels on the parent page and view included pages.

• No included pages?
  The sync action only works if the page uses the Include Page macro.

• Configuration:
  If sync doesn’t work as expected, check your global and space settings or contact your Confluence administrator.
